CHESTNUT MEADOWS – A Friend’s Farm in Dixie, GA

Photo of chestnuts | U-PICK CHESTNUTS at Penny Kuhl’s in Dixie, GA:  There is an abundant crop of chestnuts this year.  They are grown without pesticides, and they use organic fertilizer.  They will be open September 17 and September 24 (Saturdays) from 10 AM to 5:00 PM.  Cost is $2.50 per pound.  If you have a tracking device, the address is C.R. 78, Dixie, GA.  The directions are below:

Directions from Monticello: Proceed approximately one mile north of the County Courthouse on US 19 to Highway 149.  Turn right onto 149 (also known as the Boston Georgia Highway).  Proceed 9.3 miles to Mitchell Road (the first paved road on the right past the George State Line.)  Turn right onto Mitchell Road and proceed 5.9 miles to CR 78, which is on the left (there is a sharp bend in the road to the right and just before a small white church on the corner).  Turn left at the church and then take your immediate right onto CR 79.  Our farm is down 1.1 miles on the left (dirt driveway with a dark brown wooden fence and green gate).

They will also be open for u-pick persimmons in approximately three weeks.  Again, they have an abundant crop this year. The Chestnuts are grown without pesticides and they use organic fertilizer. If you have questions, please call them at 850-402-3249.

They look forward to welcoming you to their farm and they will also be at Golden Acres Ranch during the New Leaf Market Farm Tour just in case you can’t make out to U-Pick.
